There are currently many different grants available from the government to help subsidise the cost of buying and installing a renewable energy source in your home. At Greener Builds we can help you identify which grant is best to go for and help you fill out all grant applications.

Solarpower

Solar PV (photovoltaic) uses energy from the sun to create electricity to run appliances and lighting. Currently the government offers a maximum grant of £2, 500 for anyone installing Solar PV cells in their home. Greener Builds works with the main producers of Solar PV cells and currently all cells have a warranty of 20 years, but are expected to carry on producing electricity for up to 40 years. The pay back times are now much smaller then you might think, and the ability of selling excess energy back to energy providers creates many different benefits of producing your own electricity means solar PV is a real winner!

Solar hot-water heating

Solar water heating systems use heat from the sun to work alongside your conventional water heater. Solar water heating can provide you with about a third of your hot water needs (depending on the system’s size). The savings on fuel bills are about £65 a year of your hot water bills, when installed in a gas heated home.

Ground and Air source heat pumps

Heat pumps transfer heat from the ground, air or water into a building to provide heating and, in some cases, to pre-heat domestic hot water. With a ground source heat pump on average you could save from £350 to £1000 on your heating bills. An air source heat pump could save from £300 to £850 a year on heating bills.

Wood burning boilers instillations

There are many domestic log, wood chip and wood pellet burning central heating boilers available. A biomass boiler could save you around £470 a year on heating bills
